The Petite Mosaic Dress is a modern and versatile dress sewing pattern designed especially for petite women 160 cm / 5’3″ and under.
Its distinctive mosaic-inspired construction combines several separate pattern pieces, giving you plenty of freedom to experiment with colors, prints and fabric placement.
The original version combines a soft beige fabric with dark blue contrasting panels. The darker side sections create a beautiful visual effect that follows the body lines and can make the silhouette appear slimmer and more elongated.
But you don’t have to recreate the original color combination.
One Pattern – Many Different Looks
The separate pattern pieces make this dress especially fun to customize.
Try:
- a light bodice with a dark skirt for an elegant and understated office dress
- darker side panels to emphasize a visually slimmer silhouette
- a floral skirt with a matching solid-colored bodice for a romantic look
- different shades of the same color for a more subtle color-blocked effect
- bold contrasting fabrics for a statement dress

Adjustable Front Neckline
The visible metal zipper is one of the distinctive features of the Petite Mosaic Dress.
The zipper is not only a decorative element: it also allows you to adjust the depth of the front neckline. Wear it more closed for a more modest look, or open it further for a bolder style.
The sewing instructions include two different methods for sewing the visible zipper, allowing you to choose the technique that works best for you.

This pattern is specifically designed for women 160 cm / 5’3″ and under.
Available sizes:
- EU 34–44
- US 4P–12P
The pattern includes a detailed measurement chart with bust, waist, hip and additional body measurements to help you choose the correct size.
Recommended Fabric
The pattern is designed for four-way stretch fabric.
For the original version, I used:
- cream-colored four-way stretch fabric
- dark blue high-tech jersey for the contrasting sections
The pattern requires approximately 1.20–1.30 m of 125 cm wide cream-colored stretch fabric, depending on size, plus approximately 0.55 m of dark blue high-tech jersey.
You will also need:
- 1 × 18 cm / 7″ metal zipper
- a small amount of fusible interfacing
- sewing machine and standard sewing tools
Seam Allowances
The pattern includes the following seam allowances:
- 1.5 cm / ⅝” general seam allowance
- 7 mm / ¼” at the neckline and neckline band
- 4 cm / 1½” hem allowance at the bottom edge
