From Old Jeans to New Bags
The last Friday of November is Buy Nothing Day, a reminder that creativity and sustainability can be far more rewarding than shopping for something new. This year, I decided to celebrate by turning two old pairs of jeans into unique handmade bags – and I’m excited to show you how they turned out!
For a long time, I’ve been following amazing refashioners who transform old clothes into fresh, stylish pieces. I’ve always found their work inspiring – they see potential where others see waste. Recently, I came across some tutorials showing how to make bags from old jeans, and I decided to try it myself.
👖 1. Beige GAS Kids’ Jeans → Rectangular Bag
I followed a refashion tutorial showing how to turn kids’ jeans into a bag, and turned this beige GAS pair into a simple rectangular bag. I reused everything — pockets, belt loops, seams.
👖 2. Grey Levi’s Jeans → Round Bag
From an old pair of Levi’s I created a round denim bag. Again, no waste — every part found a new purpose.
👖 3. Black Men’s Jeans → Tablet Sleeve
My husband’s old black jeans became a padded tablet sleeve — sturdy, practical, and entirely upcycled. A great way to give forgotten clothes a second life.
For me, Buy Nothing Day isn’t about giving up, it’s about creating something new from what you already have. Sometimes, inspiration is just a few stitches away – right there in your wardrobe.
